1. I seem to be using a lot of water, could I have a leak?

There are several things that can increase your water usage that you may not be
aware of.
1. You could have a leaking toilet or faucet.
2. Your water softener may be regenerating more often than it needs to.
3. With warmer weather there is an increase in water usage by more showers,
washing clothes more often, outside watering, etc.

2. What is the hardness of the water in the Township?

Water hardness in the Township depends on what system your property pulls water from. The North System has 18 grains of hardness and the South System has 12 grains of hardness.  

3. I need to have my water service shut off to make a repair, can my plumber do that?

No, ONLY Township personnel are allowed to shut water off and turn water on at the curb stop! If a curb stop is inaccessible or broken, it is the homeowners responsibility to contact a plumber to repair but they MUST contact our Utility Billing Department at 651-747-2754 to schedule an appointment to have our Public Works Department turn water on or off!

4. I have no water, what do I do?

Check to see if the water valves are open at the meter by turning them counter-clockwise. If you have done this and there is still no water, call our Utility Billing Department at 651-747-2754 to schedule an appointment to have our Public Works Personnel come out to turn the water on. Someone 18 years of age or older must be home at the time of the appointment. You can also fill out a Water Service Request form and fax it over to our offices at 651-426-2258. 6. How can I pay my Utility Bill?

1. You can mail in your payment to our offices at 1281 Hammond Road, White Bear Township, MN 55110. 2. You can drop off your payment at our offices at 1281 Hammond Road. 3. You can sign up for auto pay and have your payment automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account each quarter on the due date. To sign up for Automatic Withdrawal (ACH) click on the link below or visit our Utility Billing page under the Finance Page. 4. Or you can pay online with a debit or credit card ( a convenience fee applies).

7. How often are we billed for Water, Sewer, and Stormwater?

Utility Bills are billed out quarterly in the Township. 

8. What are the current Utility Rates?

9. I am doing work in my yard and need to know where the utilities are located. What do I do?

DO NOT dig until you call Gopher State One Call at 651-454-0002 or 811 to mark all the underground utilities on your property. This is required by law before you dig. A 48-hour notice is required before doing any work. Gopher State will contact all utility companies to come out and mark their services.

10. I am installing a water softener*. What information do I need?

Hardness: 

North System  - 18 grains of hardness

South System - 12 grains of hardness

Iron Content: 

Contact the Township for iron content based on the area of the Township you live in.

* A permit is required to install a water softener!

11. Are there watering restrictions in the Township?

Yes, White Bear Township has year round restrictions on outdoor watering. Watering may be done by even numbered addresses on even calendar days during the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. only. Odd numbered addresses may water on odd numbered calendar days between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. only. Properties found in violation of these restrictions could be subject to a fine of $40.00. If you have new sod, you may get an exemption from the restriction by calling the Township Office at (651)-747-2750.
