5. Is my trash and recycling collected on holidays?

6. How can I dispose of yard waste and brush?

Republic Services offers yard waste pick-up at no additional cost from April 15 - November 15, and there are also yard waste collection sites throughout Ramsey County. For more information, visit our Yard Waste Collection Page.

7. How should I dispose of household cleaners and pesticides?

Many household products you use to clean your kitchen and bathroom, maintain your car and home, and control animal and insect pests contain hazardous materials. When these products are no longer needed or useful, they are considered household hazardous waste (HHW). To properly dispose of these items, they can be brought to a Ramsey County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site.

8. How should I dispose of my holiday tree and old holiday lights?

Holiday trees will be picked up by Republic Services at no additional charge on your garbage day during the first two full weeks in January. For holiday lights, there is a program called Recycle Your Holidays. For more information, visit our

9. How can I dispose of unwanted or expired medication?

Safely dispose of unwanted, expired, and unused medicines for free at a one of the six public drop boxes in Ramsey County. This year-round collection program helps prevent crime and protects the environment. Storing unwanted, expired, and unused medicines can lead to drug abuse or poisoning, and medicines flushed down the drain or disposed of in the trash can harm the environment. 10. How can I recycle at my business?

There is no municipally administered garbage or recycling collection service for businesses in White Bear Township. Businesses are free to select from any garbage/recycling hauler licensed to provide commercial service in the Township.

11. How can I recycle at my apartment?

There is no municipally administered recycling collection service for multi-unit complexes in White Bear Township. It is required that property owners of any multi-unit dwelling, like senior living communities or apartment complexes, provide occupants with the opportunity to recycle. Call White Bear Township at 651-747-2750 if this service is not available.

13. How can I recycle my electronics?

Electronic products containing a cathode ray tube (CRT), such as TVs and computer monitors, may not be placed in the garbage. Electronic products contain lead and other heavy metals which are harmful to human health and the environment.

Lead from CRTs is the largest single source of lead in Minnesota's municipal waste. Approximately 20% of each CRT is made up of lead; this is between five to eight pounds of lead per unit. The ban will keep toxic lead and other recyclable components of electronics out of landfills. A number of retailers accept electronics for free or a small fee.

14. How can I recycle food waste and non-recyclable paper?

Organic waste is any waste that comes from a plant or animal and is compostable (or biodegradable) such as food scraps, non-recyclable paper, coffee grounds, dryer lint, etc. For information on how to dispose of these materials, visit our Organic Waste Disposal Page.
